Helicopter rotors under test need to be monitored. By synchronizing the camera framing with the rotation rate of the test article, the “Wagon Wheel Effect” makes the fast-spinning target appear to stand still or rotate slowly. This permits operators to watch slow-motion video in a live feed, in order to diagnose problems prior to failure.
Conventional slow-motion imaging uses high-speed cameras to record video at a high frame rate and when played back at a low frame rate produce a slow-motion effect. However, this can not be used to control real-time processes.
The stroboscopic camera system includes the high-radiance LED spotlight, camera, programmable control unit, software, and optional motorized lens and pan/tilt mount for remote operation.
